With more product launches at METSTRADE, Shackleton investee Lewmar is registering double digit growth and outperforming base market levels thanks to a combination of investment in key technologies and innovative new development work with a number of OEMs.

The success of the latter approach was driven home Tuesday evening when Lewmar was recognised at the 4th Board Builder Awards for Business Achievement. The company was named winner of the ‘Collaborative solution between a production boat builder and its supply chain partner’ category. After issuing three nominations for collaborations with Sunseeker, Prestige and the Hanse Group, the committee decided to reward Lewmar with a combined award celebrating the hard work and innovative solutions developed with each builder.

Lewmar constantly aims to develop close relationships with OEMs, designing new products that exceed expectations. This award represents the fruition of this commitment: in each project extensive collaboration ensured products that fulfil business as well as design needs. Lewmar’s solutions ease production pressures and widen options for the end user, without incurring extra design or tooling costs for the builder.

Lewmar’s CEO, Peter Tierney, acknowledges that a huge amount of business focus is on design innovation and reduction of product launch lead times, which has demanded a heavy investment this year in the company’s manufacturing capability.

There is also further significant development in traditional Lewmar core product ranges. METSTRADE sees a new larger anchor winch design catering for powerboats up to 250 ft; three new volume anchor designs aimed at small to medium sized power and sailboats; and a new thruster range including long run time brushless motors with proportional power controls.

For sailboats there is a new range of backwind trimming sailboat winches allowing easier sail handling and control on 7- to 140 ft boats.

“With more new product launches than ever before at METSTRADE, it is allowing us to strengthen our OEM development relationships and secure a solid future aftermarket sales strategy for years to come”, Tierney adds.

Hanse Group was awarded the METSTRADE BoatBuilderAward 2018 in Amsterdam for the cooperation with Lewmar in the field of sunroof panels for its Sealine C330!
